Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
LOOK AT THESE FUCKING LADIES. THEY ALL BUILD BOMBS IN CANADA IN WWII. In the upper left we have Gladys, who is so amazingly outspoken and principled and owns every goddamn mistake she makes like a goddamn adult and also generally has better taste in hats. In the upper right we have Kate, a sweet-faced runaway with the voice of an angel and this quiet strength and joy and heart that’s breaking through now that she’s escaped an abusive household. On the bottom left is Lorna, I can’t even explain the flawlessness that is this dazzling woman. She’s fiercely protective of her family and her girls, and God, when she makes mistakes, your heart just splits open from her grief over turning away from the person she expects herself to be. In the lower right, we have Betty, best bomb maker in town, smokin’, drinkin’, punch-throwin’ Betty, who dreams of a house of her own and a girl to come home to (or work with, as the case may be). She is also so beautiful that I have a hard time catching all her dialogue the first time around, goddamn.
